First Aid Drills
Safety Coordination Services offers First Aid Drills to allow your organization to test, evaluate, and exercise first aid and emergency management skills. In addition, our team can set up live simulation exercises tailored to your workplace, also allowing your workers to practice and develop their learned first aid skills in a workplace environment. Through the use of rescue dummies, volunteers, simulated wounds and hazards, we can then provide effective, safe, and educational first aid drills.
However, first respondents to an accident often report that uncertainty and unfamiliarity with their training prevents them from taking immediate, life-saving action. While these skills should be retrained every three years or more, many individuals seldom get an opportunity to practice what they have learned. As a result, individuals quickly lose the finer points and details of technique. Of course our expert-lead exercises can assist your organization in faster and better-skilled responses to emergency situations.
Furthermore, these drills provide ample opportunity to practice Accident Investigation skills while providing a low-stakes opportunity for your health and safety officers to employ and sharpen their skill set. So many organizations skilled in emergency response find it difficult to provide on-the-job training opportunities for accident investigation. So SCS’ team, lead by CRSPs, can work with your organization to develop and conduct a comprehensive accident investigation exercise in tandem with the first aid drill exercise.
Some examples of previous First Aid Drills we have created for organizations:
- Worker struck by vehicle on company lease site.
- Worker fallen from heights, suspended by fall protection harness. (Technical rescue.)
- Worker heart attack on drill derrick platform. (Oilfield rescue.)
- Worker injured in storage tank. (Confined Space Rescue)
